New Rugby Posts have been installed at Jersey Farm Open Space!
Published: 19 November 2019
The posts were installed in early October and, as the land itself is owned by St Albans District Council, we had to request permission to erect them.
It so happened that the officer who came down to look was also a rugby referee in his spare time! He advised us on the most appropriate, level location in the area.
The original idea came from our Sports and Recreation Committee, who have liaised with local teens about what kind of facilities they would like to see in our parish.
Having some very large rugby clubs close to our parish, Old Albanians, Verulamians RFC and St. Albans RFC to name a few, we know we have a lot of budding World Cup players within this very parish.
Providing rugby goal posts allows opportunity for small friendly games and kicking practice, as well as being able to be used as football goals too.
We are enthusiastic about providing facilities for everyone in the parish and to promote healthy outdoor pursuits. We want everyone to enjoy our wonderful open spaces.
Here’s hoping the next Owen Farrell or Johnny Wilkinson comes from within Sandridge Parish!
